New Delhi, Jan 4: For Rs 500, you can now access millions of Aadhaar details such as name, email ID, phone number, address, postal code (PIN) that individuals have submitted to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). In fact, for just Rs 300, you can even print fake Aadhaar cards after entering Aadhaar details of any individual.

The Tribune conducted an investigation and purchased a Rs 500 service on WhatsApp through which you can access details of a number of people. The report says that it took only 10 minutes for the anonymous sellers to created a “gateway” and give the buyer an access. In the portal, you can enter any Aadhaar number and get particulars of the individuals. Another Rs 300, and the agent provided a software to print fake Aadhaar cards.

UPDATE: Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) assured there has not been any Aadhaar data breach and that the data is fully safe and secure.

THIS IS HOW IT HAPPENED OVER A WHATSAPP CHAT

The buyer contacted one Anil Kumar on a WhatsApp number. Kumar asked the buyer to create an access portal.

Kumar then asked for a name, email ID and mobile number. He also asked the buyer to credit Rs 500 to his Paytm number.

When everything was done, the buyer received an email which read, “You have been enrolled as Enrolment Agency Administrator for ‘CSC SPV’. Your Enrolment Agency Administrator ID is *****ka_6677.”

The password was sent on another mail.

A few minutes later, the buyer had details of millions of individuals.

When approached again for a software to print fake Aadhaar cards, Kumar asked for Rs 300 more. After it was paid, another person named Sunil Kumar installed a software in the buyer’s computer through “TeamViewer”.

This has come two months after UIDAI insisted that “Aadhaar data is fully safe and secure and there has been no data leak or breach at UIDAI.” Expressing shock, the Additional Director-General, UIDAI Regional Centre, said, “Except the Director-General and I, no third person in Punjab should have a login access to our official p

ortal. Anyone else having access is illegal, and is a major national security breach.”
